Say No to Webfetti

Ok, so my Blog looked plain, so I got this Webfetti thing off the internet to make it look nice. It's supposed to have wonderful templates you can use. If it works, great; but if not it makes your blog look worse than before and then you have to delete your blog and recreate it. Sorry to all my followers, you'll need to sign back in!!

Back Online

Well, we arrived at our new house in Utah on the evening of Friday, Sept 4th. We stayed at a hotel that night so that we could start out fresh on my birthday, um... the next day unpacking. Even though we worked our hinnies off that day, I could not have asked for a more perfect birthday gift than to be in my new house with my family. We only had one mishap on the journey; Heather tossed her cookies in the back seat as she slept through the winding roads of the Tennessee Mountains. We called it an early night, got a hotel, gave the kids a bath and then off to a local car wash to vacuum out the chunks!

I have some cute pics on the iPhone of our travels; I just need to find the cord to connect it to the computer! One thing I can't wait to share is a picture of the huge wind turbines. Heather saw those and called them "Y"s". She kept saying how she wanted to get on them and ride the Y's.

We also made a pit stop at Carthage Jail... :0(
It was so surreal to run my finger across the 2 bullet holes that were in the door of the room the Prophet, his brother and others were at. The one that grazed the lock and the other that the bullet passed through that killed Hyrum Smith. I ran my hands along the window ledge that the Prophet was in when he was shot and in which he fell from. Just crazy... Throughout the trip I was giving Sarah lessons on landmarks, state histories and of course LDS history during our trip. When we crossed the Mississippi from the Carthage/ Nauvoo area, I told her how the saints were driven out and were forced to cross the very river we were crossing. Her remark "People and their crazy minds."

The kids have seemed to settle in. Sarah has made friends at her new school, Adam's Elementary, and has even gone to her 1st birthday party. What is such a wonderful change of pace for me is that I get to walk her to and from school each day, just a 1/4 mile up the road. She no longer has to make an hour bus drive to school and from school. I heard her say yesterday as a school bus passed us by, "I hate school buses”, who could blame her.

I was worried that the little ones would not understand that this was our new house, and I was anticipating Heather saying she wanted to go home and wigging out. But through some heartfelt prayers, I have not even noticed one bit of anxiety and it is as if this has been home all along. Stephanie just likes the hard wood floors when you put her in pants, she gets this huge smile on her face as she crawls at Mach speeds as she slides across the floors. Robbie and I have even caught her trying to crawl upstairs, very cute...but very dangerous.

As far as the neighbors, INCREDIBLE! Lots of positive interactions from neighbors, ward members, and school parents. We have received yummy food goodies ... cookies, brownies, peach cobbler, and even a bag of home grown vegetables. I am going to have to take up some serious exercise. Robbie is just excited to have found caffeine free Dr. Pepper and caffeine free Mountain Dew.

Last night the entire bishopric (including the secretary) came to our house for an hour and took the time to get to know our family. Heather fell in love with the 2nd counselor. He said how last Sunday when he went into primary to get his daughter, Heather ran up to him and jumped in his arms. He said it melted his heart. I found it interesting that Heather has a fondness for him. He has a 6 year old daughter, Katie, who has Down’s syndrome. This man is so loving, patient and understanding. Before he left last night, Heather insisted on a kiss. He squatted down and offered his cheek. Of course that wasn't good enough for Heather. She was getting upset that he kept turning his cheek to her. Finally she grabbed him by the face, a hand on either cheek and planted one on his lips. He was afraid I would be upset/uncomfortable with my daughter kissing him on the lips, I apologized for HIM being made to be uncomfortable, but boy was it cute!

I have also had the entire Relief Society Presidency visit me, and this evening the Primary presidency came over to take a picture of our family for birthday gifts for the kids, but I forgot they were coming and stood them up! OOPS...

I think what makes this area beautiful is not only the scenic surroundings, but the amazing people.

Well, off to bed. I promise to post pics soon.

Perfect Birthday Present

I finally received the closing documents for my house in Utah. I signed the 2 inch stack of papers and just delivered them to the UPS store to have them overnighted back to the title company to finish the closing process. We have waited a month past our original closing date, but it makes us appreciate it even more. I have to admit, arriving in Utah within the next week will be the perfect birthday present for both me and Robbie!

I See Your Hinny

Today after church, Robbie was lying across the air mattress and as usual his plumber's crack was exposed. Sarah, who just finished spinning in the computer chair, looked down at him and said, "Daddy, I can see your hinny." His response..."Is it nice and shiny?" Sarah came back most matter of factually, "No, it's dirty and hairy!" Needless to say, I lost it.

School Daze

School is upon us again. Brevard County schools began August 10th, 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the state of Florida. Sarah enjoyed her 1st week (homework free of course.) Her teacher, Mrs. Stubbs-Ellis, wasted no time putting them to work. Her homework isn't hard, she is just exhausted from an hour bus ride home, and it is just hard to motivate her to do anything once she gets home. Who can blame her? But once she gets going, she really knows her stuff!

Sarah was also VERY excited to have been selected by her music teacher, Mr. Yoh, to play the bass drum yesterday. He said that he was going to pick the quietest student and the one he felt he could trust the most to play the most important instrument of the band. He told her that without the bass drum, the entire band would not be able to keep in rhythm therefore making for a poor performance. Music has got to be her absolute favorite class if you ask me!

Heather of course is always elated to go to school. Ian, Ricky, and Josiah are her best friends. She really works hard and plays hard, and comes home exhausted. It is actually easier keeping her home all day than trying to wrangle an exhausted after-school Heather. However, whatever gray hairs she gives me with her after school antics is worth the joy on her face as she boards the school bus each morning!
